Completed: 2016
As the flagship academic building on campus, Tracy Hall Science Center brings together all of Weber State University’s science and math programs under one roof to foster collaboration and discovery. Housing disciplines from botany and chemistry to physics, microbiology, and mathematics, the building was designed to break down silos and create a community of science, with transparent labs and classrooms that place learning on display for the entire campus.
The center is composed of two masonry-clad concrete towers joined by a three-story glass atrium that serves as the heart of the facility. Natural light fills offices, classrooms, and study areas, while glass-walled labs showcase research and experimentation in progress. Distinctive features include cantilevered conference spaces with sweeping valley views, locally sourced “relic walls” that integrate materials tied to Utah’s history, and artistic elements such as a sculptural water feature inspired by the region’s geology. Together, these design choices connect science, place, and people — establishing Tracy Hall Science Center as a modern landmark for education and innovation.
